Happy Easter!

The last few weeks have been filled with Easter activities.
We found a letter left by the Easter bunny and of course eggs to find, play dough was rolled into eggs to fill the Easter baskets, matching games, bingo, discussions about what the Easter bunny looks like followed by some great drawings of it.
We ate some of our yummy cooking, hot cross buns and sugar cookies.

We have added a couple of photos of our fun!

We hope you all had a Happy Easter!!

Songs for Saturday - Happy & You Know It

If You Are Happy and You Know It!
I'm sure most people know this one and with many different versions around, we like to use it to get
the children up and moving.
We  also like to use it when discussing emotions, we encourage the children to use their faces to demonstrate different emotions e.g. happy, sad, excited, scared, surprised, shy, worried and angry.

What a wonderful imaginative play set up. We did a similar one last week. The children connected with past experiences of camping, and we also used it as a focus to talk about safety.

Showcase Sunday

Well, we had another creation session today! Keep your eyes peeled for our new dinosaur setup! While we were making some new sets Miss J had some time test out some of our sets.

A Teddy Bears Picnic.
This is one of our first creations that we still have available.
Miss J took each bit out of the box and had a great time setting up the teddies, the picnic blanket, and the pretend food. It was lovely to hear Miss J playing along while we got to work creating some more playscapes.

Miss J also unpacked and engaged with our Australian Literacy experience.
She set it up with the animals exactly where she wanted them, Then she used the stones and lined them up on the table in the corresponding position to the states according to the map of Australia. Miss J broadened her knowledge of australia, it's animals, the states abbreviations and also added some extra natural materials that were on hand.
That is why imaginary playscapes are so important for childrens development they learn without even knowing it!
Creating enthusiastic participants in learning sets up a child for life!

Songs for Saturday - Hello around the world

This is a good one to go with Harmony Day

To avoid being tokenistic it is a good idea to add songs like this to everyday routines not only on Harmony Day.

What did you do to celebrate Harmony Day?

Songs for Saturday - There was an old Lady who swallowed a fly

I just put my iPod on charge ready for group time on Monday and this song started to play.
I thought I would share as it is a good one to go along with the story.
I remember my dad reading this story to me as a child, it is still a favourite today.

here is the link to a you tube video of the song

heres a little something extra for valentines day

What mum, dad, nan or pop wouldn't love one of these for valentines day?
might have to give this one a go today with the children at our centre

Foto Friday

This eggstravagent egg provocation is cool. I can only imagine what ideas and questions the children would have. At our centre we would even be lucky enough to follow it up with some real eggs hatching as we have an amazing educator who has an incubator and duck eggs for us to watch hatch.
I hope you are finding some inspiration for new experiences for the children at your centre or your children at home. If you have anything in particular you are wanting to follow up on but just cant get inspiration let us know by commenting or sending an email and we will see what we can come up with for you. you can email us directly at spectacularkidsminiplayscapes@gmail.com

how inviting is this little set up! I would love to get in there and cook some mud pies! I am sure the children would be a lot more creative with their cooking than that.
